
Yoorana Women’s Domestic Violence & Resource service Inc. provides a Women’s Shelter that offers immediate temporary supported accommodation with case management support to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Yoorana prioritises safety planning and risk assessments with each client with a goal of transitioning to safe and sustainable housing and towards creating a life free from violence.
Our support continues while the client is transitioned into housing beyond the refuge.
While clients reside with Yoorana we will provide:
Temporary Acommodation
Provide immediate temporary accommodation and case management support to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
We provide good quality accommodation that temporarily meet both the accommodation, safety and broader support needs of clients, with capacity for client privacy and home-like atmosphere
Case Management
We will respond in a timely manner to client needs, including the needs of children
We support the client to resolve the immediate crisis, by identifying risk and needs analyse assessments, this process will also identify a clients broader support needs, including but not limited to their immediate safety, as well as strengths and protective factors. Risk can change quickly, assessment and re-assessment of risk must occur regularly throughout the period of engagement.
We’ll provide follow-up support to clients who have exited the shelter
Medium support – after hours on-call phone support to residents within the shelter
Follow Up Support
Yoorana Women’s Domestic Violence & Resource service Inc. works within a broader service system that includes, other non-government and community organisations, police, child protection and the courts. Adopting an integrated response enables Yoorana to deliver a timely and client focused response to support and promote safety and well-being to our clients.
Community Engagement & Collaboration
In addition to the provision of information, advice, support and referral to our service users, our service will act as an entry point into the broader service system and work collaboratively with other specialist domestic and family violence and mainstream service providers as part of an integrated domestic and family violence response.
